Pigmentation / Skin Lightening
Pigmentation is a condition but a term that describes skin that appears darker. It can be in the form of small patches, cover large areas, and may affect the entire body. This might not be harmful in the normal course, it could be a suggestion of another medical condition.
Pigmentation may appear in many ways, some of them are :
Melasma – Changing hormonal may cause this, it may happen during pregnancy. This pigmentation can occur all over the body but the common areas are the stomach and face.
Sunspots/ liver spots- Sunspots are caused by excessive exposure to the sun over some time. The hands and face are common areas of occurrence as they are exposed to the sun.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation- Excess of acne may also cause pigmentation, inflammation caused by acne can turn into pigmentation.
Chemical Peels
Deep exfoliants that can break up clusters of melanin forming dark spots are present in Chemical peels. Concentrations of chemical peels may vary. Mild to highly potent skin peels can be used by skincare providers for skin lightening and pigmentation treatment. Some of the common ingredients of chemical peels are AHAs like glycolic acid, BHAs like salicylic acid, and TCA.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is considered to be an effective treatment for pigmentation this can be combined with prescriptive treatment. This is called combined therapy. It can effectively remove the outermost layer of the skin associated with melasma with little to no damage to the underlying skin (Gill). This places microdermabrasion as a comprehensive and powerful tool for administering pigmentation when used alongside some of the other aforementioned treatments.
It is especially attractive to patients because it results in fewer side effects than other procedural treatments such as the chemical peel. Note that results are maintained with the following treatments.
Mesotherapy
Micro-needling is very safe, with derma rollers and derma pen This is a great choice as oppose to injectables and invasive lasers. This yields lasting results and the least possible recovery time. Microscopic needles ranging between 0.25mm and 2mm are a part of the Dermapen which is a micro-needling device.
Micro-Needling is obtained from classical acupuncture and mesotherapy. During the procedure the pen is gently slipped over the skin, tiny perforations are created within the dermis that encourages the skin’s own innate healing acknowledgment, leading to the generation of collagen and elastin.
Skin Boosters
Skin Boosters are micro-injections of hyaluronic acid inserted into the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a regular moisturizing factor found in the skin, muscles, and joints. It has the strength to draw 1000 times its own mass in water and preserve the water molecules within itself. This warrants deep and constant hydration of the skin from within.
Skin boosters are inserted in the papillary dermis where they initiate the fibroblast cells. This fibroblast stimulation helps new collagen and elastin synthesis, which in turn results in soft, plump, lustrous, and healthy-looking skin. You can have this skin renewal treatment on your face, neck, decollate, and hands for improved hydration, smoothness, and skin radiance.
